Introducing Import Erin Weber

The Goannas Team proudly welcome Northern Ontario Canadian, Erin Weber to Australia for the 2011-12 AWIHL season.

Erin grew up in North Bay, Ontario and just recently graduated from the University of Toronto, where she played 4 years of varsity hockey. Head Coach, Rick Osborne reports “she is a real team leader on and off the ice.” He said “she was one of my go to players the last two years at key times.” Furthermore, Erin’s performance at the last two National Championships was rated very highly by Team Canada Coach Mel Davidson.

Erin is excited about her opportunity to join the Goannas and looks forward to contributing to their success this season. The unique Goannas experience offered will see Erin travelling around Australia billeting with her teammates in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast, Perth, Sydney and Townsville, in between AWIHL series’.

Goannas Coaching Director, Tamra Jones says “I am excited about our potential for the upcoming season as we have a good mix of veteran and new players on our roster. I am especially happy about the personalities involved, and am confident our leadership group will create a positive dynamic that will drive the team to be successful.” Jones further added “I know as a Northern Ontario ex-pat and former provincial player under Rick Osborne, that Erin will be a contributing addition to the Goannas team both on and off the ice, leading by example.”
