More about Jemma WallaceONCE upon a time, a pimply pubescent teen stumbled across a big banana and in that big banana was a cold, cold surface the size of a basketball court. The teen was so excited, she had never seen anything so beautiful. Little did she know that this cold place would become a big part of her life and lead to many opportunities in the future.I started playing ice hockey in my early teens when the Big Banana opened up its very own ice rink in 1999. I had very little knowledge of what ice skating was or what the sport of ice hockey was about. I love all sport and when the opportunity to start playing such a foreign, challenging sport came along I started to save for my first pair of skates. From that first day of skating I was addicted and from there opened a rollercoaster of amazing opportunities. 2004 - Selected for QLD to compete in the National Championships - Selected for the first year of the 'National Selects Team' 2005 - Selected to represent Australia in World Championships Div III Cape Town, South Africa - One of the founding players of the first Goannas team to enter into the newly created 'Showcase Series’ that would expand into the current AWIHL 2006 - Assistant Captain of the Goannas team 2007 - Captained 'National Selects' team competing in New Zealand - Selected to represent Australia in World Championships Div III Sheffield, England - Australia were the 2007 World Champions - Assistant Captain Goannas team 2008 – Captained the first QLD State team to win a silver medal in the National Championships - Selected Captain of the Goannas team - Selected to represent Australia in World Championships Div II Viermaki, Finland 2009 - Captained Silver medallist QLD State team in the National championships - Accredited Level 1 Ice Hockey Coach - Selected Captain of the Goannas team 2010 - Selected for Australian National Team training camp Calgary, Canada - Selected Captain of the Goannas team.
